State War Memorial Kings Park, Perth
State War Memorial was erected in memory of those men who gave their lives for freedom and humanity during the Great War 1914~1918.
Still on the first day of this trip. Earlier, I posted our arrival and breakfast at Central Perth. We then went to Fremantle, to a few of the popular places of this once a Prison Colony. Stopped by the WA Shipwreck Museum's outside gallery, stayed at Bathers beach before we had our lunch at the famous Fishermans boat harbour.
Back from Fremantle to the Central Perth by train, we just walked to our hotel ... checked in, washed up and changed.. out again and walked along the Swan River to Elizabeth Quay.
Walking to the hotel, a beautiful architectural gothic designed Anglican Church along the way, St George's Cathedral. It is located at St Georges Terrace.

Youngest thought we were done for that day, still had more to see of Perth. Just a few minutes walk from the hotel to Elizabeth Quay via Swan River foreshore. The hotel has an amazing view of the Swan River and could also see the Bell Tower from our room

Swan Bells or commonly known as The Bell Tower has a set of 18 bells, sixteen-bell peal and two extra chromatic notes. thereby considered as one to have the largest sets of change ringing bells in the world. The tower was named after the Swan River with magnificent views of the River, Kings Park and Elizabeth from the Observation deck on level 6.

I just noticed now the pavements' design which are in ripple pattern. The Wadjuk (Noongar) people of the Swan River participated in formulating the design

First Contact sculpture by a noongar artist, Laurel Nannup
First Contact is a five metre tall sculpture located at the William Street Landing in Perth. It welcomes the visitors from the river and the city to Elizabeth Quay. It depicts the arrival of the European settlers to Perth.

Kings Park is a 4 square kilometre park, bigger than New York's Central Park (3.4sqkm), with panoramic views of the Swan River and Perth CBD. It is a mixture of Paarkland, Botanic Gardens and Mount Eliza natural bushland. A very beautiful park good for picnic and cycling.

There was not much in the garden, it was approaching summer. This place would be so amazing in spring.
Visit to Kings Park was part of the half day tour sponsored by our employer. We just stayed here for an hour. I so regret we were not able to go to the Lotterywest Federation Walkway, which is just 9 minutes from where we were. Walking in the treetop takes 40 minutes return journey. I would had not minded though should the bus tour had left us. But they would not and I could have been the cause of the delay.
