Austria is a German speaking country.
Guten Morgen- Good Morning
Guten Abend- Good Evening
guten Nachmittag for Good Afternoon but I believe rarely use the greeting.
Hallo for hello
Tschüss for bye in informal
Danke is Thank you
It would be a long list to go on further with the common greetings.
We have
stayed in Salzburg for 3 days. We came from
Vienna by train. Latter is by far the easiest and most
convenient way to travel from Vienna to Salzburg (or the other way round).
grabbing something to break fast before heading to the station
Vienna Station
Trains
run from before 6 am until just before midnight from Vienna; from Salzburg to
the capital, trains depart from after 2 am until 9:30 pm. The train ride takes
about 2 hours and 40 minutes if you get one that stops only in Linz
(that would be the fastest trains available); trains depart on an almost hourly basis
in both cities. Trains are a fast, comfortable and environmentally friendly way
to travel. The sceneries is non-alpine
areas though.
You can check from this site the cost of travel by train to and from Austria and within the regions and cities of Austria

I would be uploading to youtube the photos
taken during our train travel from Vienna to Austria
We
arrived in Salzburg on 09 June 2013. As
early as September 2012, we have booked our reservation at Bloberger hof through
Booking.com. We have booked a car also
for use in 2 days.
Salzburg Station
Once arrived at The
Salzburg train station, me and my husband walked off to pick up the rented car. We left our 2 girls with our luggage at the
station. No worries, it is safe compare
to Gare du Nord in Paris. We chained and
locked together our luggage though, would be so much trouble for someone who
try to take one or two as they have to take them all. I believe we did the chaining after we took the photo below. The first 2 luggage on the left are not ours.
inside the station
We decided to book at Bloberger Hof after reading the great
reviews on Booking and Tripadvisor. The family run inn hotel-pension is a 15
minute drive from the city. The bus stop
is across the street and an easy ride (about 20 minutes) to downtown. Bus No. 21 stops only a few yards/meters away from the hotel itself.
The hotel has laundry service. Then was 15 euros for 5 kgs. We had 10kgs to wash on the 4th day of our trip (1st day was in Vienna)
Hotel Restaurant
The
hotel and grounds are spotlessly clean and the owners are very friendly and
helpful, The breakfast was also great,
with fresh eggs made to order, juice, meats, cheeses, and fresh bread. They serve dinner too but unable to try, we
always came late at night.
After checked in, we bought at the reception 48 hours Salzburg
pass for the family of 4 and we drove to Mt. Untersberg.

on our way to Mount Untersberg. 8 minutes away from the hotel to the Untersbergbahn. You can take bus 25 from the hotel or from the old town.
An enchanting mountain in
the surroundings of Salzburg that is very accessible. It is the biggest mountain near Salzburg and
can be explored with ease of comfort by using a cable car. The Untersberg is very near in Germany and serves as natural border.
the part of the mountain in Germany was the one used in the last part of the movie Sound of Music where the Von Trapp family escaped to Switzerland. Border were closed so they crossed the mountain. I may insert the clip with the rest of the photos taken in the mountain.
I will continue in my next blog our short trip to Berchstesgaden from Untersbergbahn (bahn means station).
Likewise, our 2nd day in Salzburg: Morning at Helbrunn Palace and Afternoon- SOM movie locations.
3rd day was a day trip to Munich, Germany
Overnight stay in Vienna on 08 June 2013, the very first day of our trip.
